It’s here! The December 2023 My Monthly Hero kit is here!
Welcome to the Hero Arts blog hop. This is my first hop as part of the Creative Team and I am so excited show you what I created. This kit is a great stash builder because you can use it for everything. Before we get to the cards here is some information about this month’s kit.
Classic Kit: $81 Value for $36.99
• XL Alphabet Clear Stamp Set, 8″ x 10″
• Alphabet Cover Plate Die
• 10 Pack of Watercolor Pencils
• 6 Sheets of Luxe White Watercolor Paper, 8.5″ x 11″
• Water Flow Brush
Premium Kit: $112 Value for $49.99
• XL Alphabet Clear Stamp Set, 8″ x 10″
• Numbers Clear Stamp Set, 4″ x 6″
• Alphabet Cover Plate Die
• 10 Pack of Watercolor Pencils
• 6 Sheets of Luxe White Watercolor Paper, 8.5″ x 11″
• Water Flow Brush
• Fineline Applicator
• Sea Salt Reactive Ink Reinker
• Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink
I created this card with using the Premium Kit. I used the bold numbers to create a pattern in the top corner of an A2 panel and stamped with Intensified Black Ink using my stamp positioner. I turned the panel upside down and stamped the pattern again so the image was in opposite corners. I cleaned my stamps really well then reset them in a different pattern on the open side of my panel. I stamped and flipped the same as before creating a bold pattern all over my panel. Next, I trimmed the panel down half an inch on the long sides and adhered it to Pitch Black cardstock.
I used the letters from the Classic Kit to spell out SIXTY and added the sentiment ‘is just a number’ from the Premium Kit. Again, stamped in Intensified Black ink and trimmed down. Even though sixty IS just a number, it should sparkle! So, I added a two strips of black glitter cardstock from the Glitter Paper Basics. I popped all that up o foam adhesive and adhered to the card panel.
The add-on’s this month really spoke to the planner girl in me. All the months, dates and calendar frames are right up my ally.
For this New Year’s card I used the Months stamp set to create another background. I stamped Charcoal ink on Charcoal cardstock. I wanted some more depth so I lightly ink blended the edges with more of the charcoal ink and then gave a spritz of the Black Tone-on-Tone Metallic Spray. I set that aside to dry and worked on the ‘calendar.’
For the ‘calendar’ page, I cut a 3.5 in square piece of Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock. I used my score board to create a score line half an inch from one side. In that strip, I used one of the Hole Punch fancy dies to create a line of holes. I masked off the strip at the score line and stamped the Sparkling Fireworks Bold Print with Contour ink. I die cut the number 1 from the Number One fancy dies out of silver glitter cardstock. I layered the glitter die cut on two charcoal dies to give some dimension. I stamped ‘January’ from the Months stamp set in Intensified Black ink. I popped up that calendar page to the background and adhered everything down with Precision Glue.
Here is another version of this calendar card but for Christmas. I imagine you can personalize this design for birthday’s, anniversaries, and other special holidays.
We will give away a $50 gift card, drawn from the comments left across the hop. Enter by Sunday, December 10th at 11:59pm Pacific, and the winner will be announced on the Hero Arts blog the following week.
