Drumroll please…..Here is your sneak peek for the Layering Stencils of the Month. I made five versions of this card in one sitting! I’ll be sharing the rest in the next week or so. This stencil is stunning and is super easy to line up and use.
The Fourth stencil I used Gold Hero Paste. After that dried completely, I went back for to the third stencil and used Olive Hero Wax with my palette knife and finger. I intentionally kept this very loose and did not fill every crevasse. I used a sentiment from the Christmas Sentiment Strips and Iridescent gold embossing powder. The iridescent gold most closely matches the gold hero paste. I strip of Cranberry cardstock grounded that sentiment near the bottom.
October Hero Studio is released on Monday, October 7 at 10 AM PT. I’ll see you back here on Monday for the blog hop!

My first card focused on the Card kit of the Month. This kit is one of my top kits for 2024 and I didn’t even use the main stamp set. I started by using the glow in the dark lacquer pen like a paste. I squeezed out a bunch on a white heavyweight cardstock and used a pallet knife to spread a thin even layer. I set that aside to dry over night. Then I die cut the moon die from Pitch Black card panel and heat embossed the sentiment with silver embossing powder.
After the background piece was completely dry I lined up the top panel and aligned the eyes around the moon. I used black pigment ink and clear embossing powder. I was very careful not to scorch or bubble the lacquer. There was some warping but I used strong double sided tape and Precision glue.
For my second card, I focused on the Cling Stamp of the Month. I heat embossed the cling on Charcoal cardstock with silver embossing powder. I ink blended Charcoal and Grape Juice inks around the edges to give some depth. I trimmed that panel down and mounted it on a Eggplant card base. To finish this card and give it some Haunted Mansion vibes I heat embossed the sentiment on strips of Pitch Black cardstock arranging them to look like a boarded up window. Spooookkkyyyyy
These are the Extraordinary Extras for September. SA288 Halloween Words Stencil CM779 Halloween Messages DF219 Haunted Romance Fancy Dies (D) DF220 Bat Infinity Dies (H) CH341 Autumn Leaves Decorative Tape
Keeping with my Haunted Mansion vibes I created this Clear Card using the Mirror Portraits and Haunted Romance Fancy Dies. I die cut the mirror 4 times from Pitch Black, twice from Antique Ivory and once from a mirrored cardstock. I used double-sided adhesive and started with the inside mirrored frame then aligned all the other frames from the first frame. When the card is closed, you cannot see the frames behind.
I didn’t add a sentiment because this card, the area to write a message is pretty small and I wanted to be sure there was space for a handwritten note. This card reminds me of riding the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland with all the holographic pictures and ghosts. What do you think?
Bonus Card! I had created so many spooky cards I was craving a cutesy project. I had gone to HomeGoods and saw this color theme in their Halloween section so I got to work when I got home. I used the Bat infinity dies and Papaya, Pumpkin, Peony, Azalea and Pitch Black cardstock. I used the smallest four bat dies and die cut two sets from each color.
I used a Pitch Black cardbase with a smaller white mat. I arranged the largest bats first and then filled in with the smaller bats. I did add a sentiment to one of the bats just for fun. This was a simple and cute Halloween card.
Thank you for stopping by my Haunted Mansion today. I hope you get spooked by the rest of the Creative Team. We will give away a $50 gift card, drawn from the comments left across the hop. Welcome to the Hero Arts Holiday 2024 Catalog blog hop! The holidays are around the corner and Hero Arts has some amazing new products. I have so many cards to share with you so I’ll save you the chit chat and just get to what you came here for….Holiday Inspiration!
These cards were included in the catalog and used all new products. The Color Layering Holly Branch bundle is a great basic set you could use in so many ways. These cards were all very simple designs and quick to create.
These next projects are a modern take on a holiday card. I used reactive inks in a rainbow of colors, the Geometric Holiday stencil and Glitter Paste for the first card and the Offset Holiday Message stamp with a rainbow of Core inks and Glitter Paper for the second.
These next few cards I create with a wintery color theme. I used Pool Party, Blue Raspberry, Splash and Thistle reactive inks with the Color Layering Snowflake stencils. I did a heavy inking of each color and then misted with water and Iridescent shimmer spray. This gave the background a water colored look. I couldn’t waste that little leftover piece so I added the cute penguin and a small sentiment.
The other cards use the snowflake cover plate die with the same color theme. I die cut the cover plate from Peony, Passion Flower, Arctic, Paradise and Periwinkle. I added some splatter in similar reactive ink colors, Metallic sprays and the new White Acrylic Spray before die cutting. I popped up the snowflakes and added to a Glitter Paper background. The other card was similar but I added some Translucent enamel dots to each snowflake. The sentiments came from the Joyful Christmas Messages and Offset Holiday Messages.
We will be giving away TWO $50 gift cards, drawn from comments left across the hop. Deadline to enter is Wednesday, August 28th at 11:59pm PT. The winners will be announced on the Hero Arts blog.
I am absolutely loving the changes Hero Arts has made to the subscription kit. More choices and what feels like more products! This month is going to be a sell out, I can feel it! The jungle theme is fun and versatile.
August Card Kit of the Month
$46 with Subscription + FREE SHIPPING $49.99 One-Time Purchase
KIT INCLUDES: • Jungle HeroScape Clear Stamp Set, 6″ x 8″ • 12 Coordinating Dies • 5 Fancy Dies • Jungle Scenics Stencil, 6″ x 6″ • Olive Hero Wax • White Plastic Palette Knife • 3 Reactive Ink Cubes (Key Lime Fizz, Green Apple, Fruit Punch) • 2 Reactive Glitz Ink Pads (French Pink, Byzantine Green) • 5 Printed Sticker Sheets, 6″ x 6″
My first card today was created using the Card Kit of the Month kit. This is the kit most like the old My Monthly Hero kits. This card looks pretty complicated but actually isn’t that difficult to make. I started by die cutting the jungle leaves and vine from Pine, Palm and Shamrock cardstock. Then I die cut the Wooden Frame infinity die from white heavy weight cardstock. At the same time I used a Rectangle Infinity die to cut a window from my card base. I made sure to cut the window the same size as the inside of the Wooden Frame. Then I started gluing the fern leaves to the card base around the outside edge. I filled in with the monstera leaves and then added the vines.
I protected the back base of the card and then used some watered-down Olive Hero wax and Black metallic spray to add some splatters with a paintbrush. I adhered the wooden frame to the top and then heat embossed a sentiment from the card kit with Green Iridescent embossing powder.
Above is the August Whole Studio. This includes the Card Kit, Fancy Dies, Clear Stamp & Dies, Cling and Layering Stencil subscriptions. These subscription products will not be restocked and once they sell out, they are gone!
For my second project I used the Jungle Serenity bundle from Extraordinary Extras. I started by heat embossing the bird, butterfly and frog on bristol smooth paper. then I painted them with Metallic inks. I used Purple/Blue, Red/Green, Gold and a teal that came in an old MMH kit.
For the background I cut a circular shape from a piece of recycled paper. I held that paper over a card panel and sprayed Green Shimmer spray. The recycled paper caught the overspray. I wanted a more defined circle of green shimmer (but still organic and imperfect) and this worked beautifully. After that dried I stamped the leaves image with Paradise ink. This was a subtle way to add some texture without distracting too much from the bird. Lastly I heat embossed the sentiment and put it all together on a top-folding card base.
Here are the August Extraordinary Extras. This group of products are available on the Hero Arts website as part of their regular product line.
Bonus Card! I created this bonus card while working on my Countdown card. I added a couple extra elements to make this one a bit more dramatic. I added a couple leaf fancy dies that were dragged through a puddle of watered down Olive Hero Wax. Plus I added some Hero Wax to the stencil. I used a sponge dauber and added some highlights here and there. A couple of enamel dots and that was it. Stepped it up a bit from the original card but they both look great.
Thank you for hopping along today, next up on the hop is my friend Rachel.

Are you loving the reimagined Hero Studio yet? I AM!
Here is a sneak peek of the August Card Kit of the Month. I only used THREE elements from the card kit to create this card, the stencil, wax and a sentiment stamp! Can you believe that?
I used Hero Arts core inks in Fresh Lawn, Green Hills, Kiwi and Paradise to ink blend the background with the stencil. I rotated and flipped the stencil to get some variation. Then I trimmed down the panel and heat embossed a sentiment from the card kit. I used the stencil to add the leaves by heavily ink blending with the Green Hills core ink.
Lastly, I watered down a bit of the Olive Hero Wax from the kit to make some splatters.
This one layer card has a lot of detail and interest for only using three card kit elements. I’ll see you back here on Monday for the release day blog hop! I can’t wait to share my other projects!
