Geometric Frames

1.29.2024

I have been wanting to use this Geometric Frames bundle for a while and finally got around to it. These are clean and simple cards with bright shimmery sprays and lots of white space.

I started by heat embossing the geometric frames on Deluxe White Cardstock. Then I sprayed Two-Tone metallic sprays over each shape. I used Fuchsia, Royal Purple and Ocean Blue. I was pretty heavy handed since I wanted the spray to cover each of the shapes. While I had the spays out, I splattered each color onto a white card panel. I tried to focus on the bottom left corner but it’s splatter, it just does it’s own thing. I also spritzed the bottom left corner of a white envelope to coordinate.

After the shapes were completely dry I stamped the sentiment in the center of each. In hindsight, I wished I would’ve done that before die cutting because it was difficult to make sure they were straight. And believe me, they are not straight.

I trimmed down the white panel with splatter and adhered it to a trimmed down coordinating mat. I used Azalea, Iris, and Bermuda cardstock. Then I used the flourish stamps from the set to stamp directly on the panel. I lined up each shape and picked a flourish that I felt went with the shape. I definitely used my Misti stamp platform for this as I did not want to mess anything up at this point.

I popped up the shape with foam adhesive and called it a day. I think this would be a great set to give a friend or a coworker as a gift.

Thanks for popping in. Check back on Wednesday for a special birthday card I created for my niece’s 21st birthday. Just waiting for her to receive it before I blog about it.

Pop the Cork Birthday

1.31.2024

This is a special card I created for my niece Jordan’s 21st birthday. I confess, I am terrible about making and sending cards to my friends and family but I was two for three this month with my niece and grandma getting a card in the mail!

Anyways, here is how I created this card. I used Embossing and Watermark ink with Clear Embossing Powder on Pitch Black cardstock to stamp the Sparkling Fireworks bold print. I used the largest bottle from the Bottle & Cork Infinity Dies. These dies are no longer available at Hero Arts but you can get them in this bundle at a fantastic price. I have also found them in stock at some independent retailers. I sprayed the metallic spray that came with the January kit but you can easily switch out any color spray or cardstock. I made the bottle label by die cutting another bottle and then tracing the curved edge and fussy cutting. I found a heat and flourish stamp in this Message Basics stamp set. I finished off the label by coloring with copics and adding Clear Lacquer Pen.

I die cut the 2, 1 number dies and top of the wine bottle from Gold Glitter Cardstock. The 2 and 1 also had a few layers of white cardstock stacked behind for dimension. I heat embossed the ‘Pop The Cork’ sentiment from the Congrats & Yay Stamp and Cut XL. If you don’t have any of these Stamp and Cut word dies, check them out. They are a staple in my craft room!

That’s about it! Everything came together quickly after all the elements were created. I adhered the background to a top folding card base and then added the wine bottle to the left side. Then the 21 near the center and the sentiment right above. This card is can be personalized for any age but it’s extra special for a 21st birthday.

Happy Birthday Jordan!

Valentine Skunks

1.21.2024

One of my friends from college orders custom Valentine cards for her students every year. I love getting texts from her saying she needs another set of cards for her class. This year I used some new products from the January Hero Arts release.

This year I made quick work of the backgrounds by using Hero Arts Two-tone metallic sprays. I used the Heart Burst stencil and sprayed 2-3 different sprays on each panel (yellow, orange, fuchsia, ocean blue, blue, red, purple). After it was sprayed I didn’t want to waste the spray that pooled on the stencil so I put a card panel on top and smooshed them together. This transferred enough spray to the top panel.

After letting those completely dry over night, I went back with Gold Hero Paste. I spend on some of the panels and pushed the paste from the heart out to the edges. The panels I didn’t use gold paste on, I used Black Two-tone metallic spray.

To finish them off, I added these cute little skunks from the Skunk Love bundle. I didn’t color the skunks but I did add some color to the showers and hearts. The sentiment strip is from the Everyday Sentiment Strips.

I packaged these cards and they are on their way to a class of amazing students to share with their family.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy 2024!

12.31.2023

What a year 2023 was! It started off as any other year but, in July I took a leap of faith and applied for the Hero Arts Creative Team. I truly applied thinking it was a “good experience and practice” to apply. When the email came in October, I didn’t tell anyone for a day or two. Not even my husband…I just quietly read the email about 100 times. It’s been a whirlwind since then but I’m having the best time. Creating for Hero Arts is a dream I never want to wake up from.

I also started selling my cards at The Artisan Market in Martinez, California. It’s a wonderful little cooperative store with over 50 artists. I imagined having my cards at the Artisan Market I wouldn’t do vendor events but I will probably still do a select few in 2024.

I used heat embossed the fireworks bold print with unicorn white pigment ink and clear embossing powder on black watercolor paper. I used plenty of antistatic powder and a juicy unicorn ink pad to get a good impression on that watercolor paper. Then I sprayed a few of the tone-on-tone metallic sprays in blue, ocean blue, yellow and fuchsia. The color didn’t really come through like I envisioned but the metallic sprays still shine.

I cut a 2 and 4 from the number dies from silver glitter and white cardstock. I also cut the small 3 from glitter cardstock and trimmed it to make an apostrophe. The Happy New Year sentiment is a transfer from Holiday Message Strips transfers.

I put the background on a card base and glued the numbers and sentiment down with Precision glue.

I can’t wait to see what 2024 has for me! I am excited to continue to create and share cards as part of the Hero Arts Creative Team. As far as new challenges, I’d love to start teaching in-person classes and attend a trade show. Thank you for following supporting my creative journey by following and interacting with me on social media.

Holiday Gift Tags

12.22.23

Christmas is only a couple days away and I am busy wrapping gifts and running last minute errands. As if I don’t have enough to do I decided to make some personalized gift tags for my family.

Does anyone else like to have a “theme” for their wrapping? Well, this year I found this cute Mexican themed wrapping paper at Target. I picked out a few rollls but didn’t see any coordinating tags. Once I was home I headed to the craft space to see what I could whip up.

I used tag infinity dies to create tags in two sizes and a couple different cardstocks. I used the ornate flourish stencil and another older stencil. I used coordinating inks in crimson, butter bar, pine, Bermuda, nautical, and grape juice.

Then I die cut letter dies for each family member. I layered a white die’s cut with a colored cardstock for some extra support. Since I have 3 A,s and 3 J’s in my family, I decided to add names on the letter. I attached each letter to the tag using Percision glue and tied with colored twine.

I had a special gift for a neighbor and reused a gift bag so it didn’t have a tag. I made this tag by using some extra foliage dies and the S cut from some gold cardstock. I die cut the tag from a scrap of shamrock and gave it a spritz of yellow two tone metallic spray for dimension.

I used some extra foliage dies I had in my stash to embellish the tag. I added a few red baubles to the mistletoe. Then I added a gold S die cut. I cut a slit in the top of the tag and slide it onto the ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas!
