This year my crafty resolution is to send cards to my extended family on their birthday. My siblings, in-laws and nieces and nephews. I am terrible about sending cards. I make them and then never mail them out in time. So this year, I am planning early. I’ve got a game plan. I have everyone’s birthday in my planner and I’ll send them out once a month.
One group I struggle with making cards for is teenage boys. When I saw the stamp and die set from My Favorite Things I immediately purchased it. It’s perfect for all the gamers in my family-and I have a bunch!

I started by cutting the controllers from Hero Arts cardstock in pitch black. I also had a scrap of pebble and dove white so I cut a few of those as well. Then I cut the little controller pieces from white and black scraps.

I sat down in front of the tv one night and attached all the pieces to the controllers. I colored some and left some black. I did double up in the buttons to add some dimension. Once they were all done I had lots of controllers to play with.

I started with some backgrounds. I did the Level background with coordinating inks and my Misti. And mounted one on red and one on turquoise paper from my stash. I was testing ink colors using the Achievement Unlocked stamp and decided to use them. I fussy cut them and paired it with a card panel that was embossed with stars.

On another card I die cut hearts from a Hero Arts Infinity Dies and cherry cardstock. I attached two small controllers and heat embossed the Life’s better in 2 player sentiment. I think this would be a fun anniversary, Valentine’s or wedding card.
It was a lot of fun to just pull stamps, embossing folders and stencils from my stash and play. These cards came together pretty quickly because I stayed within the red/blue/green/yellow color combination.
